Happy Thanksgiving~From Our Barn To Yours

We've been working pretty hard around here on deadlines and Thanksgiving Prep,
But once in awhile we just need to plop on the couch and put our feet up for a bit.

Even Grand-puppy, Tuffy, gets worn out.
Such a sweet gentle expression this little girl wears.
In spite of the Hub-bub
we wanted to take a moment to say
Happy Thanksgiving...
May your turkey be moist,
your gravy not lumpy,
& your jello set up just right.

From All of Us here at the Farm...
George too!

Quilty Fun Sew Along~The Science of Week 3

This weeks assignment were the Courthouse Steps blocks...just two of 'em is all...and after some pretty intense, shh...TOP SECRET   (ah-hem) sewing these past few days...it was nice to take a little break and do something that didn't take a ton of thought, or prep, or thinking, or planning, or thinking.
In fact, I relinquished control, kinda like sewing without a bra...
                                   Dangerous.
After picking two center block prints that I thought were cutie patooties, I used the extremely scientific method of dumping the storage bin of neatly folded scraps and fat quarters out...stirring them up a couple of times...then turning my head away & squeezing my eyes shut, I rooted around and picked a chunk of fabric from the pile.

I had block one center and block two center and chain pieced back and forth in that manner...each print was sewn on in the order it was selected...no holding it up to see how it would look alongside the previous prints in the block...just cut, sew, square up, lather, rinse, repeat...and ya' know what?  It was fun!

Thanks Lori Holt at Bee In My Bonnet for sharing your talent!
To Fat Quarter Shop for their sponsorship of this Sew Along.
And to Southern Belle, Rachel Griffith, over yonder at PS I Quilt for hosting this weeks block
& providing the link for Y'all to the Companion Sheet pdf.
Don't forget to check out the Flickr Page !

I hope All Y'All Are Enjoying This Little Bit of Easy Breezy Quilting Fun Too!

It's all about the cuteness!
I still have no clue where this quilt is going to live when its done...but it's so darn cute!
It's very likely a daughter or two will be laying claim to it!

Thank You again to Lori Holt at Bee In My Bonnet for her completely design style!.
To Fat Quarter Shop for their sponsorship of this Sew Along.
And to Nana Company for hosting this weeks block
& providing the link to the Companion Sheet pdf.

Last Time I Checked It Was July!

To begin properly...cuz this certainly won't end that way...Thank You to Hazel for returning to host the November edition of the Christmas Quilt-Along & Challenge!  It's good to see you've made it back from your run and have the mud washed off!  Uh-huh...she's out running, staying healthy...& skinny...elevating her endorphins...all the while tempting the rest of us to make homemade choco-latty things and leaving us with statements like,
"make yourselves comfy and and have a choccy. Go on - you know you want to!"

July??? Well...at least that's how long its been since I checked in on the Christmas Quilt Along...
Demerits for Me!  I hope this doesnt' mean that I'm in danger of being drummed out of this fun and slightly off kilter idea to make something Christmas-y without the use of red or green...yeah that's right...off kilter...you know who you are!!!  You and your pointy bits!
So amongst all the other stitchy fun I've had over this past week...I just now finished two more little snowman blocks who fit right into the required color restrictions!  (I know...who's off kilter now?)

But first...remember these guys?

Well allow me to introduce you to their new friends!

And here are two of the little guys meeting for the first time!  Aren't they just so kyoot together????

Please...no one remind me how few days are left between now and Christmas...or even now and Thanksgiving...and for that matter...November 30th...

Why?
Well then you'd know our secrets...and we can't have that!!!!!

Just feelin' a little Squirrelly!

Quilty Fun Sew Along Numero Uno!

Yep!  Just couldn't stop myself from joining the fun!
And you know what they say "The More The Merrier!"
How many quilts can I juggle at one time you ask?

I drooled over the cute Row Along Quilt at Bee In My Bonnet earlier this year...but didn't discover it until it was nearly done!  Then the news of this upcoming book came out and the rest is history!
I wish I had a wall large enough in my kitchen to hold her mixer quilt...or her apron quilt...
and I'd so love to have her scissors quilt in my sewing room...if there were space that wasn't already taken by design wall...cabinets etc...maybe I'll just have to cover that north facing window with a nice warm quilt!
Lori Holt's designs are so retro...so cute...so not the usual me!  But I love them!
I wasn't even sure I had any prints that would lend themselves to this project...but then I took a trip to the Underground Fabric Storage Facility and before I knew it was lugging up a big ol' selection of prints!
Imagine that!  Shopping in my own stash!  Who'da Thunk?!?!?!
Each week another blogger will host the next block in the series and by the end of March we should all have a super-de-duper cute quilt top!
So!  Here are my apples...made 'em yesterday!
Purty dern cute!  Right?
All that's missing is a little green worm dontcha think?
Thank you VeryKerryBerry for hosting week one!

If you'd like to join in the fun the book there's more information on the book and upcoming blog hosts at
Fat Quarter Shop!

 Trees
by
Joyce Kilmer
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

My Kind of Cathedral

And now on the lighter side...
Lynn, Sue & You Know Who!
Mr Joe & Hubby...
Joe...is that you in the red hat???

Now I'm not sure what this could be...
I suppose we'd call it a Mystery...

Still Sleuthing...
Once again...the Naughty Nancie Anne
