What's a Mother To Do?!?!?!?!

Decisions, Decisions....Decisions that should have been made by now.
I've put it off...I've dreaded it.  But tomorrow it's gonna happen!
My Quilting Partner in Crime has called her daughter the Hairstylist and we're going to get my mop trimmed for my daughters wedding.
I was blessed to have, for 25+/- years, My Cindy...who cut my hair and advised me on what would look best with my face shape and who cringed, but went ahead and cut my bangs shorter than she wanted to on many occasions...I lost My Cindy, somewhat suddenly late last fall.  My last words to her were "I understand they didn't find anything in the ER, but please don't ignore those chest pains".  My girls and I were devastated...she was like family...an Aunt...a confidante...a sounding board.  I'd known of her for years before she started cutting my hair...I went to school with her little sister and my best friend since Jr. High had been a Jr. Bridesmaid in her wedding.
I finally got to a point that my hair was long enough and some time had lapsed that I thought I could face having a "Not Cindy" cut my hair.  It was okay-ish...but sides kept getting in my face and she just didn't provide the service like My Cindy.
The next time, I went with daughter #2 to her friend...who coincidentally. works in the shop that belonged to "My Cindy".  Hard as it was to walk through that door and see her station, void of activity, we did okay.  So I thought, good...we'll go again.  Second round, not so good.  Daughters friends, Pregnancy brain had set in and when I suggested that my bangs needed to be trimmed a little shorter, she replied, "Oh dear!  I didn't even cut your bangs...I don't have bangs so I forget other people have them"  Hellooo...what are you staring at other than my head when you're wielding sharp scissors?????

So, I'm putting all my faith, hope and trust in Hairstylist J tomorrow...after all, she did trim me up once before when My Cindy was on vacation and booked into the next century upon her return... so it's not uncharted territory!

Right now...I pretty much look and feel like this...
actually...if I'm being truthful here, it's probably more like this...
or gadzooks!
this?????

So...I'm looking to the internet and our fashionable icons there to guide me to a decision.  How do I want to look in wedding photos that are going to be viewed by the masses for years to come...including potential grandchildren whose query could very well be..."why does Gramma's hair look weird in that picture?"  And here's a little inspiration I've tripped across...perhaps you can help me decide...

This style has certainly stood the test of time...

and then there are great American Icons...

one being one of the most famous Mothers In Law in American Television History...
uh well...maybe not...soon to be son-in-laws name isn't Derwood...

perhaps something a little more current...

or even more current????
my dress doesn't have a bow...maybe I could get one like this...
or add a little bling...and I do love braids...

and I admit...there are many days when I feel this would be the best direction to go...
if only, I too, had the perfect face to compliment this daring move...

This color would compliment the Maids of Horror Honor dresses...

and this style's kinda dressy, dontcha think????
Kinda like Miss Kitty meets the 22nd Century???
My three girls have often compared themselves to these three sisters...and have argued about who would portray which witch...
don't know why they don't stop arguing and just ask me...
I could settle the argument PDQ although, there is some flexibility there...
given the day...
I wonder how their Dear Mother did her hair for their weddings?????
Oh right...none of them ever got married...

I guess if I'm really truthful about it all...
like most Mothers of the Bride, I'd just like to have my husband look at me the way he did on the day we got married...

All Those Years Ago...

Signed,

Mother of the Bride in need of Guidance...and perhaps a little therapy...

    1. If only I could get that straight section of bangs under control that does the awning thing over my left eye!
The trim went well on Quilty Friends back patio! We giggled a lot!

  3. Ooohh, so many choices. I reckon the braids with bling would be just right, maybe coloured to match the maids of honour's dresses would be just perfect for such a special day.
